Overview
Take a break from the pool or the beach and get into some rapids! We have two levels of river rafting to choose from.
Telaga Waja — fast and thrilling: near the village of Karangasem in northeast Bali, a little further to travel to than the closer Ayung River, but more challenging. Rapids run around class 3 depending on rainfall, ranging up to class 4 in the rainy season (October–March) and suited to intermediate-level rafters. In the dry season it's often too low for rafting at all.
Ayung River — slow and peaceful: for those who want to admire the jungle and enjoy a lazy float with a few rapids in between. It's just outside Ubud, so it's closer to most hotels, which also makes it more popular and more crowded than the more rustic Telaga Waja — especially good with kids. Both rivers are safe for first-time rafters.
There are two sessions for rafting both rivers, a morning session and an afternoon session. Your friendly, English-speaking driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the river drop-off point in an air-conditioned car. You'll change into rafting gear and be shown your safety equipment before joining your group — note that for safety and boat efficiency, you may be placed in a raft with other rafters who aren't part of your group.
You'll practice a few maneuvering tactics before starting your trip down the river. Once you arrive at your destination, you'll get a chance to rinse off and change into other clothes while we prepare a traditional Indonesian meal for your group, before heading back to your hotel.
